Connect your AI

DeskWink connects to AI apps that support remote MCP servers with sign-in. The steps are the same everywhere; only the menu names differ.

DeskWink is added to your AI app as a custom connector (also called a remote MCP server). There is no key to paste: the AI app sends you to DeskWink to sign in, and you decide what it may do.

Plans and menus

Whether you can add a custom connector depends on your AI provider and your plan with them, and the names of menus and buttons change from time to time. This guide describes the steps, not exact menu labels. If a menu looks different, search your provider’s help pages for “custom connectors” or “remote MCP”. DeskWink does not change your AI plan or its limits.

The steps

  1. Check that your computer is connected. Run deskwink status. If it is not connected, run deskwink launch. See Getting started.
  2. Find where your AI app adds custom connectors. Look in its settings for connectors, integrations or tools. On some plans an administrator has to allow custom connectors first.
  3. Add a new custom connector with the name DeskWink and this address:
    https://mcp.deskwink.com/mcp
  4. Sign in to DeskWink when the AI app sends you there. Sign-in and permissions happen on DeskWink’s own pages, not inside the AI app.
  5. Choose what this AI may do. You pick which of your computers it can reach and what it may do on them, for example reading files, or also proposing changes. You can change or revoke this later.
  6. Back in the AI app, enable the connector for your conversation if the app asks, then try a first request such as “Which computers do I have connected to DeskWink?”

Guides for specific apps

Other apps that support remote MCP servers with sign-in should work with the same address and steps. We have not tested every app, and we do not claim support for apps that are not listed in these guides.

Change or remove access

  • In the DeskWink console you can see each AI app that is connected, change what it may do, and revoke it.
  • Revoking an AI app stops it from reaching your computers straight away. You can also remove the connector inside the AI app.
  • To cut everything at once, use the emergency disconnect in the console, or run deskwink stop on the computer.

If something does not work

The most common cause is that DeskWink is not running on the computer. Run deskwink status and deskwink doctor, then see Troubleshooting.
