Connect Cursor

Add DeskWink to Cursor as a remote MCP server in mcp.json, sign in on DeskWink's page, and choose which folders on your computer Cursor may use.

From Cursor’s documentation, not tested by DeskWink yet

These steps follow Cursor’s documentation on MCP (cursor.com/docs/context/mcp, read on 31 October 2026). DeskWink has not yet run them in Cursor ourselves, and Cursor’s page does not say exactly how sign-in starts for a server you add by hand, so that step is marked below. If something differs, tell us at [email protected]. DeskWink is independent and is not made or endorsed by Cursor.

What you need

  • Cursor on a computer with a browser, so you can sign in to DeskWink.
  • DeskWink running on the computer whose folders you want to use, with a folder shared. Run deskwink status to check. See Getting started.

Steps

  1. Open Cursor’s MCP configuration. Cursor’s page says you manage MCP servers from Customize in the sidebar, or edit the file directly: ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json inside one project.
  2. Add DeskWink as a remote server, with the url field and no command:
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "deskwink": {
          "url": "https://mcp.deskwink.com/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    The address is https://mcp.deskwink.com/mcp. Do not add headers or an auth block: DeskWink uses OAuth with dynamic client registration, which Cursor supports as a public client with no secret.
  3. Sign in. Cursor supports OAuth with PKCE for servers that need it. Open the server list under Customize and look for a sign-in or connect option next to DeskWink; we could not verify the exact label or whether Cursor starts the sign-in by itself. Sign in to DeskWink with the account you used to pair your computer, choose the computers and abilities on the consent page, and click Allow.
  4. Ask Cursor’s agent something that needs your files, such as “Which computers do I have connected to DeskWink?”

If it does not work

  • Cursor says the computer is offline. DeskWink only runs while you have started it. Run deskwink launch on the computer whose folders you want to use.
  • DeskWink does not appear, or shows an error. Check the JSON is valid and the address is exactly the one above, then reload Cursor. Cursor’s page says that if a token expires without a refresh token you sign in again.
  • Cursor cannot see a folder. Add it with deskwink folders add, and check on the consent page that this computer is allowed. You can change it in the console under AI connections.
  • You use a team or managed Cursor setup. Your administrator may restrict which servers you can add. DeskWink cannot change that.
